Powerlink is Bang & Olufsen's own standard for audio and control signal connection between products. It is used to ensure:

  • Analog stereo audio (line-level)

  • On/off signal (5V DC)

  • Mute signal (control signal for muting)

  • Data communication (in certain configurations)

Connector types

Connector type Used for
8-pin DIN Older B&O products and many BeoLab speakers
RJ45 Newer B&O products and Neo products

Compatibility with Neo products

All Neo products – e.g. Neo Convert, Neo Radio and Neo Avant – use Powerlink to integrate seamlessly with both older and new B&O products

✅ Direct signal transmission – no active conversion needed
✅ Compatible with both DIN and RJ45 Powerlink standards
✅ Designed to B&O's specifications for audio and control signals

Important: Not all RJ45 cables on the market are suitable as Powerlink cables. We only use cables with correct wiring, shielding, and impedance that match B&O’s requirements.

Cable quality

NeoMester cables are:

  • Shielded for low noise and high signal fidelity

  • Made with correct internal pin configuration for B&O/Neo

  • Available in different lengths and connector types – also as adapters

MK2 vs. MK3 – what is the difference?

Cable type Description
MK2

Has two separate shielded signal conductors (one for each channel – left and right). Suitable for most classic B&O setups. Very low noise and reliable.

MK3 Has one common shielded signal pair (twisted pair). More compact and flexible. Mainly used in newer setups with RJ45 connectors.

Both cable types provide excellent sound quality, but MK2 is often preferred for longer distances and more noise-sensitive environments, while MK3 is ideal for modern, space-optimized installations.
